AXION COOLED compact cooled thermal imaging core series for surveillance systems of middle and long range. The InSb detector forms sharp thermal images with the resolution of 640х512 pixels. The core operates in the MWIR range of 3-5 microns.  The cores are equipped with various lenses with the focal distances up to 1450mm.

AXION COOLED thermal imaging cores are dedicated for surveillance system manufacturers. The cores are easily integrated into thermal imaging systems where small-size and lightweight cores with a cooled supersensitive detector are needed.

AXION COOLED is available in various modifications.

InSb cooled detector

The AXION COOLED thermal imaging core is equipped with a cooled InSb (indium antimonide) detector, which provides superb efficiency at a very long distance. The InSb detector makes sharp thermal images with the resolution of 640х512 pixels, which show even the smallest details. The core operates in the MWIR range of 3-5 microns.

In comparison with uncooled cores a thermal imaging core with a cooled detector enables to detect potential threats at a much longer distance. All the AXION COOLED cores are small-size and lightweight. They are a turnkey solution с cutting-edge features of image processing. The cores are easily connected to supply interfaces and video signal transmission interfaces of all existing systems.

Various types of lenses are available

AXION COOLED is delivered with lenses of customized configurations: fixed focus, optical zoom lens, three-field lenses, etc.

Operation range criteria. Johnson criteria

One of the most important parameters of thermal imaging surveillance systems is the ranges of detection, recognition and identification of visualized objects. Object detection and recognition depend on a number of random factors and are probable.  Therefore a criterion is needed, which enables to make a certain decision of fulfillment the tasks of detection, recognition, and identification. Johnson criteria are widely spread as such a criterion.

Johnson criteria determine the following levels of distinction in the ascending order Detection: the object is present

Recognition: The type of object is recognized, i.e. a house, a human being, a vehicle, etc.

Identification: The object can be described within the observer’s knowledge —the type of building (house, garage, storehouse), the type of vehicle (lorry/truck, passenger car, pickup), something more about the human being (male/female, military/civilian).

  3. Specifying the auto focus window and its dimensions for a more accurate auto focus algorithm; the auto focus window has three options: full frame, half of the frame, quarter of the frame
  4. Changing of image polarity (positive/negative)

  7. Automatic or manual AGC
  8. AGC algorithm, two options of signal bar graph processing: number of details in the image: NORMAL – bar graph sides are cut at the levels of 5 and 95%, the image is more contrast with fewer details; WIDE – complete signal bar graph is used, the image is less contrast, is softer with more details
  9. Setting AGC speed: fast, slow, average
  10. Digital detail enhancement (the МIDE algorithm), variable selection
  11. SHARPNESS – image sharpening algorithm, variable sharpness level
  12. Turning on/off electronic crossing
  13. Digital zooming up to 8х
